Who are we?

  Who are we?

Lucía Foundation for Pediatric AIDS (Fundación Lucía para el SIDA pediátrico: FLUSIP) started its activities in 1995. The aims -initially and globally- have been since its beginning to work for the improvement of the life conditions of children, teenagers and youngsters infected by the virus of Human immunodeficiency and their families.

The creation of this foundation was possible thanks to the initiative of the parents of Lucía, who in spite of their being infected by the HIV (themselves as well as their baby daughter) they devoted all their energy and funds to fight the consequences of this disease, particularly serious for children.

They devoted their lives to, show to the world how they were able to fight with courage this new disease that was affecting their whole family -they were diagnosed in 1984- in spite of several added difficulties to their condition of infected by the HIV, in a period of the disease where AIDS resulted irremediably in death in the short run.

In spite of this difficult situation, the parents of Lucía managed to make her a happy child until she reached the age of 6, when the disease ended with her short life.

Today, Fundación Lucía keeps on pursuing the same objective and is a meeting point for children, teenagers and youngsters, as well as for their families infected or affected by the virus of human immunodeficiency. Fundación Lucía is an organisation of reference in the fight against this infection, with special emphasis in the pediatric age.

The different actions taken are performed and/or co-ordinated by specialised professionals in children care as well as in pediatric accompaniment. We also count on the support of committed people who work on a voluntary basis.
